biz.lk--- Leo Burnett Solutions Inc., the Sri Lankan office of the internationally acclaimed advertising agency network Leo Burnett Worldwide was recently graced by the presence of Arvind Sharma, Chairman, Leo Burnett South Asia- his 3rd visit to the island in the last six months. On this visit he attended a full day review of the agency's performance and also participated at the meeting of the Board of Directors. Sharma addressed the team at Burnett and complimented the agency on its noteworthy performance. He noted "You've weathered the storm and withstood the external forces during an exceptionally turbulent 2009. This in itself is an achievement" He saluted the agency on its outstanding performance at The Chillies and for topping the table. He also said, "The work is looking great, this is reflected in the 7's the agency has gained from the Global Product Committee (GPC), as well as the 3 finalists accolades the agency received at the Spikes Asia Festival".

Ranil de Silva, Managing Director, Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. said, "Although it was a tough year there were some happy tidings such as the end to the 30-year civil war in the country, our overwhelming success at The Chillies, our 10th anniversary celebrations, the investments we continue to make on training and our team members success to represent Sri Lanka at the Cannes Lions. Each of these factors and many other reasons will help make 2010 a significant year for us."

Last year Leo Burnett celebrated its 10th anniversary with a number of celebrations including religious ceremonies, Leo Star awards - the Agencys internal awards and an alumni event amongst many others. 2009 was also a very significant year for Leo Burnett as the Agency was declared the Agency of the Year at the The Chillies 2009, when the agency racked up a grand total of 121 points earned from 37 accolades which included 27 metals ranging across categories such as Print, Radio, TV, Non-Traditional Media and Campaign. The haul of metal included 2 Golds, 11 Silvers, 14 Bronze awards and 10 finalist recognitions.

Another historic achievement for the Agency in 2009 was having three of its young advertising professionals represent Sri Lanka at the annual Cannes Young Lions Competition and the Roger Hatchuel Academy 2009. Leo Burnett also won the highly acclaimed 'Commercial of the Year' award at the Sumathi Awards 2009, which recognizes Sri Lankan advertising derived through local insights.

The 6th Reggie Candappa Creative Awards (RCCA) in December last year also proved to be quite prolific for Leo Burnett bringing in eleven awards across the categories of Print, TV and Radio. Leo Burnett struck Gold for the Most Powerful Image of the Year - Commercial. The Agency rounded up the year making it Sri Lanka's most awarded agency for the sixth consecutive year

Ranil de Silva also commented that the company's focus has been to deliver results for its clients through the creation of ideas that achieve results. De Silva said The late Leo Burnett had stated 'Our sole purpose in life is that of improving the sales effectiveness and reputation of our clients through ideas' It is this focus which brought us the bronze award at The Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards (AME) 2009 and the many new assignments we have gained from our clients such as Cargills and Nestle as well as the agency's recent success in acquiring a stealthy portfolio of new clients such as Hutch and Vogue Jewellers.

Mr. Sharma commended the agency's leadership and team on its performance during a difficult year. He said, "This list of achievements can only be achieved because of the talent and commitment that the Burnett office in Sri Lanka." Sharma concluded his remarks by saying he is very optimistic about 2010 and that he is confident that Leo Burnett in Sri Lanka will rise to even greater heights in the year ahead.
